Message from Our President

 Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is a true honor to serve as your President for the 2025–2026 academic year. I’m filled with gratitude for this community—and deep optimism for the future of neuropathology.

Despite ongoing challenges on the national stage, including uncertainty in federal support for research, health care, and diversity efforts, our field continues to advance with energy and purpose. Through your work, we are proving that science, education, and equity will not only persist—they will prevail. One thing remains constant: the centrality of neuropathology in the understanding of human neurologic disease. We are the nexus where clinical insight, microscopic observation, molecular data, and technological innovation converge. In this role, we are not only interpreters of disease, but also key collaborators in its prevention, treatment, and—ultimately—its cure. Thus, our association has never been more essential. Through the dedication of our members, we continue to train the next generation of neuropathologists, contribute critical discoveries, and deliver compassionate, expert care.

Our momentum is real: molecular diagnostics are redefining how we understand and classify disease; new therapies for neurodegenerative disorders based on human neuropathology are emerging with unprecedented promise; and artificial intelligence is opening new avenues in both diagnostics and discovery. At the heart of all this progress is our discipline. Neuropathology remains essential to unlocking the mysteries of the human nervous system—and essential to the future of neuroscience as a whole.

Working alongside Vice President Dr. Ken Adalpe, I look forward to planning an exciting meeting in 2026, where we will gather to share knowledge, foster mentorship, and strengthen the ties that keep our field vibrant and resilient.
